UPDATE: 6 Dec 2010. The preparatory study is now finalised. The Final Report and feedback log are available via the "What's New" section.
The purpose of this website is to publicise the findings from an EC Preparatory Study related to the Ecodesign of Energy-using Products (EuP) Directive 2005/32/EC for Lot 3 Sound and Imaging Equipment: DVD/video players and recorders, video projectors, video game consoles.
This preparatory study aims to identify and recommend ways to improve the environmental performance of these energy using products throughout their lifetime at their design phase based on the European Commission Methodology for Ecodesign of Energy-using Products (MEEuP). The information provided by the study will be used to prepare for subsequent phases, including undertaking an impact assessment on policy options and to prepare a paper for the consultation of the forum. Those phases are to be carried out by the European Commission.
Our approach to undertaking this study and planned timescales are detailed in the Project Plan.
